When we started Epsilon Industries in 2000, the vision was to design and prefabricate pipe racks and corridors for custom air handlers, accelerating and simplifying construction work in the field by shifting it to the factory. The founding team saw an opportunity in prefabricated commercial/industrial construction – at the time, an application rarely seen outside of the petrochemical industry.
The startup and early years of Epsilon were anchored in the belief that real value existed for customers when quality, well-designed prefabricated assemblies saved time and effort. Epsilon built a solid team of engineers, production staff and sales resources, who have worked together to bring that early vision to life, growing it into today’s Epsilon.
The team found that projects grew in complexity as customers realized the benefits of modular, off-site construction. Epsilon transitioned from pipe racks and corridors to more complicated skid-mounted pump systems and then to fully enclosed, multi-system central utility plants. During this growth, the foundational core values never changed – an emphasis on communication, quality control and attention to detail.
Over the next two decades, the commercial/industrial construction industry slowly evolved to recognize off-site construction as one of the best ways to manage the changing dynamics of the construction industry: compressing schedules, constricted budgets and a desire to shift risk to those who can manage it best. Epsilon was ideally suited for this market evolution; we led the shift to fully-enclosed central utility plants, while others were still focused on simpler pump packages and prefabricated pipe racks.
Today the Epsilon team continues to be at the forefront of modular construction. Our relentless drive to create and deliver real value to our customers, by creating cost certainty and reducing project risk, is recognized throughout North America. It started 20 years ago with a clear vision and a dedication to those early customers; today we’re poised to meet the challenges of the next 20 years with a continued commitment to innovation.
