One important aspect of Off-Site Construction is the ability to inspect and track the progress of systems being designed and built in a factory environment, in parallel with on-site activities. As part of our drive to accelerate the adoption of Off-Site Construction, Epsilon has been working to develop better ways to make our project teams more effective and efficient – and that includes the evolution of the Factory Tour.
Over the past year, Epsilon has provided countless detailed factory walkthroughs, both live and pre-recorded, depending on the project requirements and team preferences. We pair digital workflows with video files and virtual meetings to answer questions, review the details of key components, and coordinate with contractors in the field, as necessary. If anything, our expanded virtual and digital communications have increased the visibility Epsilon customers have to their projects during construction, pre-assembly, and QA checks. This approach provides total project visibility with as much virtual on-site involvement as the customer needs or wants.
Because the Epsilon team already embraced digital workflows and had extensive experience coordinating with remote contractors and project stakeholders, our culture was well prepared for an evolution in how we provide walkthroughs and QA checks. By adding additional in-house video production capabilities, and by leveraging the same type of remote communication tools used by office workers around the world, virtual plant walkthroughs and QA checks have become a reality.
The Epsilon team has improved the overall customer experience by leaning into the challenge and adapting technology to traditional site-based manufacturing and construction processes. While virtual can never fully replace the experience of hands-on examination, our customers tell us they are benefiting from our updated approach, and we continue to deliver high-quality off-site constructed modular systems that can be assembled and commissioned in a fraction of the time required by traditional construction techniques.
